Assurance

Audits that stand up to scrutiny, delivered by a team that understands your business and your regulators.

An audit report is read by people who make decisions with it: shareholders, boards, banks, regulators, donors and tax authorities. They need to trust what they are reading. Dawgen Global’s audit teams deliver that trust through rigorous work under International Standards on Auditing, with clear communication from planning to sign-off.

We also aim to make the audit useful to you. Alongside our opinion, you receive practical observations on your controls, reporting and processes, raised early enough to act on and written in plain language for management and the board.

The challenge

Reporting expectations across the Caribbean keep rising. IFRS standards change, regulators ask harder questions, lenders want audited statements sooner, and boards are expected to show stronger oversight of financial reporting and controls. Many organisations also face late filings, stretched finance teams and records that are not audit-ready. The result is delay, cost and, too often, avoidable qualified opinions.

Who it is for

  • Private and family-owned companies needing a statutory audit
  • Listed companies and their audit committees
  • Pension plans and their trustees
  • Non-profits, charities and donor-funded projects
  • Statutory bodies and other public sector entities
  • Subsidiaries of regional and international groups reporting to a parent

Signs you need us

  • Your audited statements are regularly filed late, or a deadline is approaching
  • Your lender, regulator or donor has asked for audited or reviewed accounts
  • You are adopting a new IFRS standard or moving from IFRS for SMEs to full IFRS
  • Your last audit raised issues that were never fully resolved
  • You are preparing for an investment, sale, listing or refinancing
  • You want a fresh, independent perspective from a new auditor

How we work

Understand

We learn your business, its risks and your reporting deadlines, and agree a clear timetable and information request at the start.

Plan

We focus our work on the areas of highest risk, using data analytics where it improves coverage and efficiency.

Execute

Our team carries out fieldwork with a named engagement lead and regular progress updates, so issues are raised as they arise, not at the end.

Review

Every engagement passes through our quality review process, overseen from our Caribbean headquarters, before any report is issued.

Report

We issue our opinion and a management letter, and meet with management and the board or audit committee to discuss the findings.

What you receive

  • The independent auditor’s report on your financial statements
  • A management letter with prioritised, practical recommendations
  • A presentation to the board or audit committee where required
  • A clear information request list and timetable at the start of each engagement
  • Direct access to your engagement lead throughout the year

How it works in practice

Illustrative example. A family-owned distributor had fallen two years behind on its audited financial statements, and its bank was pressing for current accounts before renewing a facility. We agreed a catch-up timetable, carried out an audit-readiness review to close gaps in its records, and audited both years in sequence. The company filed on schedule, renewed its facility, and used our management letter to strengthen its inventory controls for the next year.

Where we work

We offer all of our services in every territory we serve, with every engagement planned, reviewed and quality-controlled from our Caribbean headquarters in Kingston, Jamaica. Some regulated services are performed by affiliated firms; we will advise you of the arrangements when you make a request.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an audit take?
It depends on the size of the organisation and how ready its records are. We agree a timetable with you at the start and share a detailed information request list, so you know what we need and when. An audit-readiness review can shorten the process considerably.
What do you need from us to begin?
A trial balance, the prior year’s financial statements, and the supporting schedules set out in our information request list. We send the list at the start of the engagement and review it with your finance team.
Can you take over from our current auditors?
Yes. We follow the professional procedures for a change of auditor, including communication with your existing auditors, and we plan the transition so it does not delay your reporting.
Do you audit organisations outside Jamaica?
Yes. We offer audit and assurance services in every territory we serve, with all engagements managed and reviewed from our Kingston headquarters. Some regulated services are performed by affiliated firms, and we will advise you of the arrangements when you make a request.
What if our records are not ready for an audit?
Tell us early. Our audit-readiness service helps you prepare reconciliations, schedules and supporting documents before fieldwork begins. Where records need more extensive work, our accounting outsourcing team can help.
How are your fees set?
Our fees are tailored to each client, based on the size and complexity of the work and the agreed deliverables, and are set out in your engagement letter.
